Wind farm plan for district

Eight wind turbines each measuring more than 150 metres in height could be built in open countryside near Long Buckby.

The idea has been put to local councils by Gamesa Energy UK, the British subsidiary of a Spanish company, and involves the construction of a ‘renewable energy park’ incorporating the 155-metre high turbines, solar panels covering up to half an acre and an electrical substation, all expected to operate for 25 years.

Gamesa is looking at an area of land between Long Buckby and Watford village, near the M1, but would require full planning permission from Daventry District Council before being able to start the development.
