Locals urged to see second windfarm exhibition

A SECOND exhibition of plans for a wind farm at Lissett Airfield is to be held at the end of the week.
Novera Energy wants to put 12 turbines on the site – which the company says would generate enough energy to power a town the size of Bridlington.

But since the plans were revealed earlier this year, the proposal has prompted controversy – with residents for and against the scheme.

While some have welcomed a move to tackle climate change, others have objected to the impact on the local area.
They had chance to air their views at a public exhibition held in April.

Novera says it has now taken those comments on board and addressed them in the new design which will be on show on Friday and Saturday at Rickaby Hall, Ulrome.

Project manager David Taylor said: “We have taken our time with this project to make sure the proposal is appropriate for the area and to ensure that we could undertake a comprehensive range of technical and environmental studies.

“In addition, an extensive consultation exercise with the local community and other bodies has fully informed the proposal and we are committed to continuing these consultations throughout the planning process.

“I would encourage local people to attend the exhibition if they have any questions.”

The planning application was submitted in July and it is expected that the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s planning committee will consider the application in either October or November. Comments can be submitted to the council up until it is considered by the committee. Correspondents are asked to quote reference number 06/05618/OSTPLF.

The exhibition will be open from 1-8pm on Friday and from 9am-4pm on Saturday at Rickaby Hall, Ulrome.
