The mayor of South Bruce Peninsula says he is not in a conflict of interest regarding wind turbine projects.

Carl Noble says he does not see how allegations of a conflict are founded, despite the fact he has a wind testing tower on his property near Mar.

That tower was put up by Tribute Resources Inc., a company who’s board of directors includes former South Bruce Pen lobbyist, Peter Budd.

Noble says when he struck the 15-hundred dollar deal with Tribute he had no idea Budd was on the board of the company.

Nor does Noble see any problem with casting his vote on regional wind turbine projects.

Noble says those projects are with other companies like Enbridge, not Tribute.

Noble says he would consider an actual turbine on his property if he had a place to site one, but that research hasn’t been conducted yet.

And between a third of his property being low-land swamps and drainage areas, and the county set-back requirements, a turbine may not even fit on his property.

Noble says he would only consider himself in conflict in municipal or county wind turbine voting if Tribute made a formal proposal while the testing tower was still on his property.

Noble says the wind testing tower has been on his property for about a year.
