The Colac Otway council is disappointed the State Government approved a big wind farm near Colac without letting the council know.
German company Pro Ventum International is expected to start building the 116-turbine wind farm near Mount Gellibrand next year.
Mayor Warren Riches says he was taken by surprise when the Government announced its approval yesterday.
“I certainly would have felt that it would have been common decency perhaps to have forewarned us about what was going to go ahead,” he said.
“I’ve been flooded with a lot of media enquiries over the last 24 hours about it and I almost know just at the moment as much as the media know about it.
“I think sometimes the relationship between the local government and the State Government falls down in areas like that where perhaps a little bit of forewarning might have been very helpful.”
