Turbines wind up as art installation

A Cornish wind farm is set to delight its fans – and horrify its detractors – by temporarily transformation into a work of art.
During a planned ‘wind fair’ – a kind of village fete meets healthy debate – at the Delabole Wind Farm the turbines will be illuminate with coloured lights so that they light up the night sky.
“This piece of art demands the viewer to accept the form of wind turbines and appreciate their sculptural beauty. It is important for the viewer to see that renewable energy makes an essential contribution to Britain’s energy supply and that structures like wind turbines are becoming part of our industrial heritage,” said Juliet Davenport, chief executive of Good Energy, the company which is putting on the free event.
The wind fair will be held on Saturday, August 26 with the turbines flooded with light from 7pm.
