Noise from Wind Turbines Near Goderich Raising Concerns

http://www.am920.ca

About fifty residents of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh packed the council chambers last night to voice concerns over the noise from wind turbines in the municipality.
Epcor has erected 22 wind turbines in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh and has plans for another 69.
Some residents close to the turbines complained last night about noise as well as flickering sunlight.
Epcor public relations manager Neil Levine says the noise can vary depending on the wind direction and velocity.
But he says the province has set a maximum of 40 decibels and Epcor has to comply with that maximum.
Levine says Epcor is committed to being a good neighbour and encouraged anyone with a noise complaint to call the Epcor office in Goderich.
Huron County planner Monica Walker-Bolton says they’re looking at revising the setback requirements for the second phase of the project and they’ll be bringing recommendations back to council as soon as possible.
