Following a public meeting to discuss proposals for a wind farm next to the A39 at Otterham, a call for the application to be rejected has been made by the Group Against Windfarm Proliferation (GAWP). The public meeting staged last week was chaired by Keith Goodenough, district councillor and chairman of GAWP.
At the meeting resident Celia Langley highlighted the detrimental effect upon the landscape she felt the development would have, as it was close to an adjacent Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Alan Nunn of the Realistic Energy Forum detailed arguments against wind turbines and described what was said to be their negative effect upon the countryside and the people who live there.
He also raised concerns regarding noise and vibration.
Another objector, Alan Goodenough, raised road safety concerns.
The efficiency of wind turbines was also questioned.
The meeting follows an application by Windelectric Management to erect five turbines. North Cornwall District Council has yet to consider the planning application.
Following the meeting GAWP spokesperson Alan Goodenough said: “We are determined to pursue the campaign to the utmost”
