Co-op power promotes green energy sources

This letter is directed to all persons interested in helping to promote environmentally friendly energy sources in New England and New York.

Co-op Power, a regional cooperative that is dedicated to the development of such resources, offers many energy-saving aids to its members. It works in cooperation with the Center for Ecological Technology in Pittsfield, well known in the Berkshires for its energy conservation efforts.

In addition, for more than a year it has devoted tremendous volunteer efforts toward building a biodiesel production facility that will convert used vegetable oil into heating fuel usable in regular oil burning furnaces. It has signed contracts for the purchase of land in Greenfield and for the purchase of recycled vegetable cooking oil.

Co-op Power is seeking the help of as many people as possible to raise member equity to support the proposed plant, before a Dec. 31 deadline on its contracts.

Further information about purchasing an equity share in Co-op power is available at www.cooppower.com or by phone at (413) 425-6795. A sustainable energy conference is also being held in Northampton tomorrow.
