Not happy with how a Lincoln board and state court have stymied its efforts to challenge a proposed $130 million wind farm in the Lincoln area, the Friends of Lincoln Lakes is taking its case to the state’s highest court, the group’s attorney said Monday.

Alliant Energy has asked state regulators for a 14 percent rate increase for its 525,000 customers in eastern, northern and southern Iowa to pay for a new wind farm and transmission upgrades.

Challenge BWEA lies
The announcement of plans for a £200million windfarm at Moy, near Inverness, was accompanied by the claim that it would provide power to 100,000 homes.
This great lie is perpetuated every time a new wind development is reported. People need to understand what is actually being claimed, and this can be found in the British Wind Energy Association (BWEA) publication Calculations for Wind Energy.

Wind turbines raise questions in a rural county
URBANA — A proposal to build more than 50 wind turbines across eastern Champaign County has received state approval to move ahead, but there is still a lot of work to be done before the turbines begin to produce electricity.

Five more wind turbines set for Fenland and more look likely to follow in the next few months
Five new wind turbines look set to be built on the outskirts of March.
A recommendation from Nigel Brown, Fenland District Council’s planning delivery manager, says the scheme is a “natural extension” to a neighbouring wind farm.

Wind turbines inquiry hears of residents’ anger
Villagers have urged a Government planning inspector to reject proposals for two 125 metre high wind turbines on their doorstep.
The appeal was made at a public inquiry into controversial plans by Broadview Energy for the turbines between the villages of Hilton and Seamer, near Yarm.

Proper debate is needed on wind farm claims
Sir, In the past I have always been proud to invite family and friends to visit me in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland.
In the future, I may well be asking them instead to come to the industrial park where I live.
Since kith and kin live in and around Glasgow, Birmingham, and London, where they have impressive industrial parks of their own, they may just decide to stay at home.

Conference set here on wind power
The second conference designed to support the development of wind power in New York is scheduled for April 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Monroe Community College, the New York Power Authority announced Monday.
