Wind turbines disrupt local residents
DeKalb County resident Tammy Duriavich has noticed changes since the wind turbines have been turned on near her home.
Recently, Duriavich’s horses have been acting differently to the point that one day, her horse bit her.
Duriavich said her horses had never behaved in such a way before the turbines were erected.
Duriavich also said that her dogs, who are normally quiet, are now constantly barking.
Between DeKalb County and Lee County, 145 wind turbines are officially in use.

PSC commissioner questions cost to customers if power lines go through
As huge power line projects in Montana are being pitched as the catalyst for a new wave of wind power development, Public Service Commissioner Brad Molnar, R-Laurel, is asking whether these lines might end up harming Montana electricity consumers.
Molnar has been traveling the state and writing newspaper columns, arguing that the lines could lead to higher rates for Montanans. If they interconnect with existing power lines, power generator PPL Montana could more easily sell its cheap coal-fired and hydro electricity ...

Question what wind farms reap
Considering the wind farm(s) projected for Goodhue County, many are concerned for surrounding areas, the affects of sound, flickering reflections, killing of birds, human and wild life habitat, erosion of soil, etc.
After attending meetings of the county commissioners where some issues were addressed I checked with some in the foot print of existing farms.
One Jeffers, Minn., farmer said he couldn’t even see the 365-foot tower as it was in the far corner of his property.
But someone must see it, ...

As Maine rushes to embrace wind power, unnamed critics posting on Internet sites and reader comment pages contend that money and political connections — reaching all the way to the governor’s office — are greasing the skids.

Midwestern states’ energy ambitions worrisome, Maine governor says
WASHINGTON – Maine Gov. John Baldacci says regional energy deals like the proposal between New Brunswick and Quebec will encourage renewable power projects on the northeastern seaboard.
Baldacci is turning to his neighbours for a regional approach to energy as Midwestern states threaten to flood the New England market with wind and coal power.
The governor is concerned his state’s ambitious plans to develop renewable energy projects – including biomass, tidal, wind, solar and hydroelectric – could be put on ice because ...

Community relations manager Graeme Purches told the Otago Daily Times that if the board decides to go ahead then it would simply be a matter of how long delivery of the turbines took and how quickly contractors could get them in ...

Research Chair Choice Misses the Mark
The Society for Wind Vigilance expresses its concern over the announcement of its choice of Research Chair in Renewable Technologies and Health. Dr Siva Sivoththaman is an electrical engineer. While we wish him well, in our view Dr. Sivoththaman’s professional background lacks the clinical expertise to evaluate “health impacts of renewable energy” associated with industrial wind turbines.
As advocates for health protection The Society for Wind Vigilance believes that the lead and expertise of this Research Chair would more ...
