Wind Energy Conversion System Ordinance

Author:  | Noise, Ordinances, Wisconsin

The potential sound and vibration impact associated with the operation of wind powered electric generators is often a primary concern for citizens living near proposed wind energy conversion systems (WECS).

This very thorough draft ordinance from Shawano County, Wisc., limits noise levels to 5 dBA above the established background level at neighboring property lines and establishes limits of low-frequency noise within a mile from the project property line.
