Northwest Wind Integration Action Plan

Northwest Power and Conservation Council

This study, published in March 2007, warns that plans for installing 6,000 MW of wind energy capacity in the northwest U.S. “increase the need for flexible resources such as hydro, gas-fired power plants, or dispatchable loads to maintain utility system balance and reliability” and substantial new transmission capacity which will be inefficiently utilized.
