    U.K. Petitions

Make local decisions stay local over wind turbines http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/46269 Responsible department: Department for Communities and Local Government To the House of Commons. The petition of the people declare that they want to see local decisions upheld over wind turbines. The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons bring in changes to stop planning appeals over-ruling local decisions made by local councillors in the relevant planning authorities and ensures the Government’s localism agenda is pursued in all cases. Stop the reckless siting of wind turbines in Scotland’s scenic landscapes

http://chn.ge/VJ0gUn To: First Minister Salmond, Minister Ewing, Mr. Fraser and the Scottish People In 1849, John Muir, a young Scotsman emigrated to America with his family. He went on to become the driving force behind the protection of many of the national parks, forests and other pristine areas of wilderness here in the United States. Without this Scotsman many of the most glorious areas of North America (and all around the world) would have been lost to commercial development. The . . .

    It’s Time to Reconsider

If you can’t see grid scale wind turbines from your home and don’t think they affect you, it may be time to reconsider. Maine is being permanently scarred and its “Quality of Place” jeopardized by industrial wind projects. Wind industry advertising and PR tells us that wind power is high benefit and low impact. But the very opposite is true. Calling them “wind farms,” wind developers promote a warm, soft image. But reality paints a different picture. The turbines being . . .

Take action to stop onshore wind turbines damaging the countryside

Our new report highlights the dramatic proliferation of onshore wind turbines. In many cases these are damaging valued landscapes and intruding into some of the most tranquil areas of England. We must find a way of reconciling climate change mitigation and landscape protection – otherwise we will sacrifice the beauty and tranquillity of much-loved landscapes. Onshore wind mapping shows exponential growth in wind turbine planning applications, leaving local communities increasingly powerless in the face of speculative applications from big, well-funded . . .

Controvento. Il tesoro che il Sud non sa di avere

Against the wind: The treasure the South doesn’t know it has – What hides behind the great wind power affair – Nella vita di Antonio Colucci entrano un giorno, ospiti scomode e inattese, le pale eoliche. . .

    Wind Farm Scam

An excellent gift for your local councillors/selectmen/zoning administrators! (Combine it with Wind Turbine Syndrome, by Dr. Nina Pierpont.) The spectre of global warming and the political panic surrounding it has triggered a goldrush for renewable energy sources without an open discussion of the merits and drawbacks of each. In The Wind Farm Scam Dr Etherington argues that in the case of wind power the latter far outweigh the former. Wind turbines cannot generate enough energy to reduce global CO2 levels . . .

    Wind Farms Can Generate Angst

South Australians don’t want to live too close to industrial scale wind generators. We have more wind generation than any other State – in fact, we have one of the highest proportions in the world of wind power generation. More than half of Australia’s installed wind power is in South Australia. Wind-powered generation is seen as totally eco-friendly and green. However, concern is building over its cost, health effects and aesthetics. Community opposition to industrial scale wind generators is increasing. . . .
