    Wind Farms Can Generate Angst

South Australians don’t want to live too close to industrial scale wind generators. We have more wind generation than any other State – in fact, we have one of the highest proportions in the world of wind power generation. More than half of Australia’s installed wind power is in South Australia. Wind-powered generation is seen as totally eco-friendly and green. However, concern is building over its cost, health effects and aesthetics. Community opposition to industrial scale wind generators is increasing. . . .

Eastern Mount Lofty Ranges Landscape Guardians and Stop Keyneton Wind Farm

There is a new organisation of concerned residents and landowners from the Keyneton, Eden Valley and Cambrai districts of South Australia. This group has been formed in response to a 57 turbine wind “farm” planned for the area. We have formed The Eastern Mount Lofty Ranges Landscape Guardians whose primary task is to ensure that all those that will be affected by the Keyneton and Eden Valley wind “farm” will have the full picture of the personal and environmental consequences. . . .

    Ruahines threatened: Stop the destruction!

RIGHT NOW, plans are underway that will devastate and permanently change the Ruahines ranges, including the Waitahora, Puketoi, and Tararua ranges. These plans will ravage the exceptional beauty of these untouched mountains, so much so that the blow to this pristine wilderness and loss of habitat for many native species of birds and animals will alter these peaks forever. What are these plans? Wind power. Wind power, which, on first glance, seems innocuous enough. But, as we speak, major changes . . .
