Come join Film-Truth Productions @ the Katharine Cornell Theater
Wednesday, April 14th @ 7:00 pm
For a special screening of select clips from Vinalhaven, Maine, where the Fox Islands Electric Wind Project went online in November of last year. The screening will be followed by Q&A with two Vinalhaven residents.
Energy development on and off our island shores has become one of the most important topics our island has been called upon to decide as a community. Film-Truth Productions is currently working on a documentary that explores this issue both locally and globally.
While the documentary won’t be completed until late 2010, the outreach campaign for the film has already begun. We are partnering with organizations and individuals who are actively looking into energy development and who have questions they would like answered. As part of the outreach campaign, we will host several screenings of select clips from interviews we conduct with communities that have experience with wind turbines and experts in various fields from around the world.
Our community has expressed great interest in learning more about Vinalhaven, Maine and the Fox Island Electric wind turbine experience. While the project enjoyed robust near unanimous community support initially, since the turbines went online in November of ’09, there have been some unanticipated noise issues that are greatly impacting the lives of some of the neighbors of the turbines. For this first outreach event, we will screen clips from Vinalhaven. Two neighbors of the wind turbines will also be there to share their experiences and answer questions from the audience.
If you know others who would be interested in attending this event, please forward this email. If you would like to join our mailing list and be notified of future updates about the documentary and its outreach campaign, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org write “sign me up” in the subject line.
Hope to see you there!
