I would like to express a very heartfelt thank you to everyone that has sent in their congratulations to VORTEX following the dismissal of Nuon’s appeal against the refusal of permission to build 7 massive turbines in the middle of our community. We have received hundreds of thank-you letters and congratulatory e-mails – and I have also received a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a hamper.
THANK YOU everyone – it has been a pleasure to work with the community to defeat such an unacceptable planning proposal. Many people were involved, behind the scenes, to help make our campaign such a success and to these people I would like to pass on the wonderful accolades – it has been very much a community effort.
The community has worked together to protect our precious landscape, our homes, our wild life and our leisure activities. We have always maintained that this is the wrong location for commercial wind turbines. The residents have said so; the parish councils have said so; the district councils have said so and now the planning inspectorate has said so.
Nuon is currently considering whether or not they can find any grounds on which to take the unanimous verdict to the high court for Judicial Review. Perhaps the best explanation for their continued persistance was given by Christopher Booker, Telegraph last weekend, when he said ‘Last week a Government inspector threw out a highly unpopular scheme for seven turbines in Shropshire which would have generated £43 million in subsidies alone for its owners over the next 25 years’.
We ask Nuon – what part of NO do you not understand. VORTEX, on behalf of our residents will continue to oppose you every step of the way.
Well done everyone!
Terry May – coordinator for VORTEX
