New York plan to ease siting regulations on wind energy

Sue Sliwinski

New York Gov. Spitzer announced a major clean energy policy initiative on April 19th. It focuses on new legislation which will include re-writing the currently expired Article X. Article X regulates power plant siting, and Spitzer intends to include language that will “fast-track” renewable energy projects, including industrial wind power, and will offer considerable incentives and new financing for these projects, as well.

Article X will PREEMPT LOCAL LAW. Download the governor’s speech here [1].
