					<description><![CDATA[Sempra Energy&#8217;s power generation subsidiary has applied to the federal government for a “Presidential permit” to build a 500-kilovolt transmission line across the U.S. border with Mexico near Jacumba.
Sempra Generation, which owns and operates four natural gas-fired power plants in the Southwestern United States, filed the application on Dec. 20 on behalf of Baja Wind, according to a notice published in the Feb. 22 federal register.
The proposed transmission line would carry as much as 1,250 megawatts of electric power produced .&#160;.&#160;.]]></description>

					<description><![CDATA[Mexico&#8217;s President Vicente Fox is scheduled to visit Oaxaca state next month to open the 83MW La Venta II wind generation project, local wind power proponent Fernando Mimiaga told BNamericas.
Mexico&#8217;s state power company CFE signed a US&#36;111mn contract with Spanish firm Gamesa EÃ³lica and compatriot company Iberdrola in September 2005 to develop La Venta II.
CFE will operate La Venta II, which is made up of 98 turbines.

Mexico&#8217;s energy regulator CRE has approved consortium Eurus&#8217; 250MW wind power self-supply generation project, which would benefit local cement producer Cemex (NYSE: CX).
Cemex along with subsidiaries Inmobiliaria RÃ­o La Silla and TEG EnergÃ­a make up Eurus, which plans to build a wind park in the municipality of JuchitÃ¡n de Zaragoza in Oaxaca state, according to a CRE resolution.
The park would have 300 turbines and generate an estimated 876GWh a year.
