Residents, Aldridge reach agreement on wind turbine
The lawsuit filed by a group of residents who live near the wind turbine at Aldridge Electric has been settled. Libertyville officials extend moratorium on building wind turbines
Libertyville officials have agreed to extend a moratorium on wind turbine construction. The temporary ban has been extended six months. Mayor Terry Weppler wants more time to discuss proposed restrictions commissioners want placed on wind turbines. “I don’t want to rule them out completely, but in my opinion the current ordinance almost virtually does,” Weppler said. A settlement has been reached in the lawsuit over Aldridge Electric’s wind turbine in Libertyville. A group of neighbors calling itself Citizens for Protection of Libertyville filed the lawsuit against Libertyville and Aldridge Electric in 2009 over Aldridge’s 120-foot tall wind turbine at 844 E. Village extends wind turbine moratorium
Village board trustees unanimously approved extending a six-month moratorium on the construction, installation and operation of wind turbines at the Sept. 27 board meeting. A judge on Thursday denied a request from neighbors of a wind turbine in Libertyville to have it immediately turned off, but they vowed to keep fighting. Village officials applauded the ruling.
