Sadberge Parish Council to discuss plans for Moor House wind farm
Villagers are being urged to put forward their views about a planned wind farm near their homes at a public meeting on Tuesday.
Sadberger Parish Council will dedicate a large part of its monthly meeting to discuss plans for a ten-turbine wind farm on land at Moor House Farm.
The council will also allow residents to speak during the debate.
Banks Developments, a County Durham firm, is behind the plans for the wind farm on land to the north-east of Darlington.
Members of the parish council met with representatives from the firm earlier this month.
Tuesday’s meeting will include a report from the meeting, which discussed ways to deal with noise issues from the farm.
The parish council confirmed the open session would allow a village-wide response to the planning application.
Councillors will also discuss the parish council’s official response, which will be submitted to Darlington Borough Council’s planning team, and arrange details to allow residents to make their own comments.
The proposals have caused wide debate in a number of neighbouring villages, which could be on the doorstep of two other wind farms.
In Sadberge, one of those villages which could be surrounded by up to 30 turbines, more than three-quarters of residents polled were in opposition to wind farms.
A campaign group, Seven Parishes Action Group, has been formed as a result of a series of applications in the area.
If approved, the Moor House scheme could be the first wind farm in the Darlington borough.
Banks Developments has said it has consulted a range of groups, who have raised no major concerns to the plans.
