Silent majority don’t want wind farms all over PEC
The Point of View opinion piece in the Nov. 13, 2009 issue of The Intelligencer somehow concluded that the silent majority of “County folk …” are in favour of covering Prince Edward County (PEC) with industrial wind turbines (IWT) to act as a source of alternative energy. We disagree.
We have lived in PEC for 25 years. We, and fellow residents, agree that the development of reasonable alternate energy sources should be considered. We find it unbelievable that the proposals to site IWTs all over PEC would be thought of as reasonable.
Let’s be honest — the proposals to erect IWTs is about money — money for a few suspect developers and money for a few landowners.
Sure, PEC is windy, but it is small and home to many. Do we want to have our home turned into an Industrial Park covered by IWT monsters? We don’t.
