Shaffer Mountain windmills

This is in response to Mr. Roger Irons’ letter to Joe Cominsky.

One of the areas that Mr. Irons falls short on is the rights of property owners. Where do one’s rights begin and the adjoining property owners end when their quality of life is being threatened? In some respects it depends on where you live.

If Gamesa/Shaffer Mountain Wind would not have applied for its permit one day before Shade Township’s ordinance would have passed, Mr. Irons would not have all the problems with Mr. Joe Cominsky’s truthful statements. He would not be able to have a turbine within the small amount of land he owns.

How coincidental is it that Gamesa’s permit application slipped through one day before the ordinance passed?

Mr. Irons is worried that Berwind’s lands will be posted to stop trespassing for hunting, fishing, and recreation, if the turbines don’t go in. Again, Mr. Irons, you need not worry. There will be no hunting or fishing left if this supreme habitat is destroyed. Berwind has promised that its land will be posted and the community will suffer “ramifications” if the turbines do not go through. It has punished people who are not for the turbines already, to the point of Mr. Cominsky’s near death.

Berwind could easily stop this problem and make their money, too. Put the turbines on reclaimed strip mines.

Just remember, Mr. Irons, Berwind giveth and Berwind taketh away. In the 1920s the coal company evicted their employees, women, and children out of their company homes.

A note to Shaffer Mountain residents, neighbors in Central City, Shade Township, and Napier Township–WAKE UP! Put up your signs. Show your support. Do NOT BE INTIMIDATED.
