Bluewater gets OK for offshore weather station
Bluewater Wind has received approval from the U.S. Department of the Interior to put up a weather testing station off Rehoboth Beach in preparation for constructing its offshore wind farm, the company’s president said this morning.
The department approved four meteorological towers in all, two for Bluewater including one off the New Jersey coast; and two others off New Jersey for other developers, said Peter Mandelstam, Bluewater president.
The key approval allows Bluewater to begin mapping weather patterns for its offshore wind farm, which could be the first in the nation.
