Eastham rezoning plan raises serious concerns
The Eastham Planning Board, under pressure from some selectmen as well as the “corner office,” have slid an article into the May town meeting warrant proposing to rezone the transfer station as well as Rock Harbor to commercial zoning. That would potentially allow industrial-size wind turbines to be sited in the neighborhood.
Everyone who lives in Eastham should educate themselves to the downside of industrial wind: decreased property values, decrease in quality of life due to constant noise and shadow flicker, and potential for bodily injury and property damage due to ice throw from the blades, blade failure and ground water contamination from turbine oil leaks.
Wind turbines belong in a safe, secure area, responsibly sited, not in neighborhoods.
