Controversy over wind continues in Prattsburgh; Town considering a moratorium
The Town of Prattsburgh might soon be sued by wind company Ecogen, on the grounds that the Prattsburgh board is holding up Ecogen’s wind project.
But that’s not stopping the Prattsburgh Town Board from moving towards declaring a 6 month moratorium on wind energy, so that the whole process of bringing a wind project to Prattsburgh is halted for at least 6 months.
Why a need for a moratorium? For two big reasons. One — the complaints about wind energy coming from Prattsburgh’s neighboring town Cohocton, and two — the recent collapse of a wind turbine in Northern New York State.
The Prattsburgh Board meets again on Monday night at 7:30 to review the legal 1st draft of the 6 month moratorium on wind energy in Prattsburgh.
