CLEAN calls for moratorium on wind farms
There are calls this morning to suspend all windfarm operations in upland areas across the Northwest until a full investigation into the Leitrim landslide takes place.
Cavan and Leitrim Environmental awareness network say a moratorium is needed on the development of windfarms to prevent future bogslides and the resulting environmental damage.
The recent landslide in Drumkerrin, co leitrim has had a devastating effect on the ecological area surrounding Lough Allen.
Peter Crosson, the spokesperson for CLEAN, says more measures are needed to be put in place to stop future bogslides.
