Wind farm hearing appeal set for March
The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) has set down four days to hear the appeal against the Mt Pollock wind farm.
The Melbourne hearing will be on March 2-6, Mt Pollock resident and wind farm opponent Kathy Russell said.
Ms Russell said residents were happy with the date and they could now properly prepare their case.
Ms Russell said the opponents had a win in VCAT last week when fighting off a bid by the law firm Freehills for early disclosure of information.
Freehills, which is acting for wind farm developer International Power, had sought disclosure by October 1 but VCAT said delivery of the information could be made by November 3.
The law firm had also sought early details and their areas of expertise of all witnesses the opponents were going to call.
“We don’t have to provide the names and areas of expertise of each expert witness until 15 days prior to the case being heard,” Ms Russell said.
She said she had also been granted an interview with Planning Minister Justin Madden’s office over the Mt Pollock wind farm.
“We have an appointment the week after school holidays to meet with the Minister’s adviser,” she said.
“I want to alert the Minister to the inadequacies of the current planning guidelines and how the wind industry is manipulating them to the detriment of the greater community.”
