Turbine revelation

A flyer directing me to www.palmerston-north.info has revealed information about the Turitea wind farm that every ratepayer should see.

I am shocked at the photomontage. It shows the land immediately behind Summerhill literally plastered with enormous turbines right next to houses.

How can MRP possibly say that the wind farm is 10km from the city? It is in the city.

I drew a line on a map of the city from the nearest turbine and 10km reaches Tremaine Avenue.

Remember, the proposed windmills are far bigger than those on the existing wind farms.

I also listened to the audio link on this site and, incredibly, MRP’s CEO thinks the Turitea wind farm is the same size as Te Apiti when its four times bigger at 360 megawatts. Palmerston North had better wake up before it’s too late.

International evidence suggests property within 2 kilometres of the turbines will drop in value by an average of 20 percent.

Given Palmerston North property values have dropped 8 percent in the past year, the huge, proposed wind farm is likely to make many rate-paying homeowners insolvent.

This is not what I want in our community, nor what our community needs.
