Campaigners against plans for wind turbines on a former opencast pit site near Chase Terrace are urging residents to take a closer look at the proposed site for themselves.
Bleakhouse Wind Farm Action Group is opposing a planning application by energy company Harworth Power to put up three 102 metre-high turbines that would be 640 metres from the nearest homes.
On Sunday, September 7, the group will lead a walk to the site to show local people where the turbines will be built, on land between Chase Terrace and Heath Hayes, should planning permission be granted by Chase district councillors.
The walk meets at the junction of Ironstone Road and Stables Way at 11am.
The group claims almost 500 letters of objection have already been lodged but insists ‘more are needed’ to defeat the proposal.
Further details are on the group’s website at www.bwfag.co.uk [1].
