Go-ahead for Lingen wind data mast
Wind resource data is to be collected over 12 months on the site of a proposed wind farm.
Plans to place a temporary meteorological mast on land to the east of Llanshay Lane, Reeves Hill, have been approved by Herefordshire councillors.
The mast will collect data in relation to a planned development of four 105-metre wind turbines, which are currently subject to a separate planning application.
Objections were raised by residents of Reeves Hill and Stonewall. Letters asked why wind testing was required when the original application was already in the planning process.
Objectors also raised the point that the temporary mast was considerably shorter than the proposed turbines.
An objection was also received from the manager of Shobdon Airfield, who said the development would impact on flight safety. But planning officers said no objection had come from the Civil Aviation Authority and so the argument was insufficient to justify refusal.
