Wind farm plans rejected
A bid for a wind farm has been dramatically thrown out by councillors.
Nuon UK Ltd’s plans for seven 110-metre high wind turbines at Woore on the South Cheshire border were all set to be approved after planning officers recommended the go-ahead.
But, in front of 400 residents in a packed hall set out for 250, North Shropshire District Council’s planning and development committee last night (Tuesday), refused the application by a majority of 13-3.
Cllr John Beckett, portfolio holder for the built environment at the council, said: “Having considered all relevant planning policies, members were of the opinion that the impacts of the scheme were unacceptable. Nuon UK Ltd now has the right to appeal against this application.”
The turbines would have towered above Audlem and Buerton and been clearly visible from Nantwich and Bridgemere.
