Wind farm campaign pledge
Campaigners are to fight on against plans for a wind farm in Lincolnshire after a developer appealed.
The Open Spaces Society is continuing its fight against ten 125-metre high wind turbines next to the Viking Way in the Vale of Belvoir.
South Kesteven District Council’s development control committee threw out the application for the turbines at Thackson’s Well Farm, Long Bennington, in March last year.
But the applicant, Infinergy, has appealed.
There will eventually be a public inquiry.
General secretary of the society, Kate Ashbrook, said the group is backing the council in opposing the development at the inquiry.
“We are submitting written evidence and the local action group, Belvoir Locals Opposing Turbines, is putting up a great fight,” she said.
“We oppose the development because it would be a severe intrusion for walkers, riders and cyclists on the popular Viking Way long-distance path.”
