Public asked for views on new wind turbines
Proposals for four more giant turbines on the Louth Marsh will be discussed at a public consultation.
Novera Energy aim to erect four 80-metre high turbines on farmland at Sea Lane, North Cotes, in a project estimated to cost about £4.3-million.
Villagers and visitors to the nearby North Coates Flying Club will have a chance to have their say on the proposal.
To date, there has been no application to the planning authority at East Lindsey District Council.
Susannah Side, Novera Energy PLC’s project director for the site, said: “We are in the very early stages of the project and currently still investigating the suitability of the site.
“So far, our knowledge of the site suggests that North Cotes could be suitable for four turbines, with up to 12 megawatts of renewable generating capacity.
“This could generate enough electricity to meet the needs of 6,000 to 6,500 homes.
“As a responsible developer, consultation is essential to ensure that key stakeholders are given the opportunity to influence the proposal before we move forward with a planning application.
“The views of the local community will help us with the design of the wind farm over the next few months.”
Novera will establish a community fund for the benefit of local communities.
Ms Side said companies would be invited to bid for about £4.3 million worth of construction contracts.
Mike Speakman, a spokesman for North Coates Flying Club, said: “There is no doubt it will impair the safety of operations at the airfield so we will be talking to the air authorities about our concerns.
“We do not know of any airfield which has a wind farm so close. It will be a hazard to our pilots.
“It is surprising when there are plans for a much bigger wind farm off Spurn Point offshore which is where these turbines belong.”

The public consultation days will take place at North Cotes Village Hall, North Cotes, between noon and 8pm on Wednesday, July 16 and from 10am until 4pm on Thursday, July 17.
