Auchtermuchty windfarm firm attacks council

Fife Council’s handling of the Auchtermuchty windfarm application has been criticised by the company behind the plan.

EnergieKontor project manager Mick McLoughlin said he found incredible the council’s claim it did not have enough information about the proposal.

He called Fife “a maverick authority” because it chose not to follow Government guidance on noise in relation to wind turbines published in 1997.

“It seems a bizarre approach to me,” he said.

Fife Council’s planning committee agreed on June 29 to reject EnergieKontor’s application to build a five-turbine windfarm at Rossie.

The proposed windfarm attracted strong community opposition, with 420 objections being lodged with Fife Council.

The matter will now go to a public local inquiry later this year as EnergieKontor had previously appealed to the Scottish Executive on the grounds of non-determination.
